Privacy policy.
EFFECTIVE JULY 22, 2026
In brief
Gaku does not sell personal data, show advertising, or track you across apps and websites. You can use the core learning experience without creating an account.
Data stored on your device
Gaku stores learning progress, review history, study settings, and reminder preferences locally on your device. Daily review reminders are scheduled locally by the operating system; Gaku does not operate a push-notification server or receive a device push token for them.
Optional account and sync
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, Gaku receives the account identifier and email address supplied by that provider, and may receive the name you choose to share. Gaku uses this information only to create your account and provide cross-device sync.
Synced data includes word-level study progress, review counts, scheduling dates, study totals, daily limits, and your reminder preference. It is linked to your account so it can be restored on another device.
Service providers
- Apple or Google provides authentication when you select it.
- Supabase provides authentication, database, and sync hosting.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and may process standard web request logs.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces used by this website.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Gaku does not use their services for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Retention and deletion
Synced account and learning data is kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete the account and its synced data from the Sync screen inside Gaku. Learning data stored locally remains on that device until you reset it in Gaku or remove the app.
Your choices
Account sync is optional. Notification permission can be changed in Gaku or in iOS Settings. To ask about your data or request help with deletion, email ip.vantwo@gmail.com.
Changes
This policy may be updated when Gaku changes. The effective date at the top of this page will show the latest revision.
